Temporary Signal Installation

There will be temporary lane closures effective Tuesday, April 30, 2019 through Friday, May 17, 2019 at various locations throughout the Cummings Street and Cook Street intersection. These lane closures are due to new signals being installed and the existing ones being removed. Slow your speed in this area, be alert to workers, and choose an alternate route to avoid traffic backups.

Abingdon Police Department- Hit and Run on 4-25-19

On Thursday, April 25, 2019, at approximately 9:55 AM, Abingdon Police were dispatched to 909 East Main Street, Highlands Ski & Outdoor Center, in reference to a hit and run with property damage. Upon arrival, officers were directed to an area of damage to the outside of the building. The damage was on the south side of the building, the side facing East Main Street (pictures attached).  

A check of surrounding businesses did not provide any surveillance footage of the incident.

The Abingdon Police Department is asking for public assistance with this hit and run. If you have any information regarding who may have hit Highlands Ski and Outdoor Center, contact the APD at 276-628-3111 or Washington County, VA Dispatch at 276-676-6277.

Abingdon Police Department- Truck Stolen on 4-17-19

The Abingdon Police Department is investigating the theft of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado two-door pick-up truck from the 100 block of East Main Street. The owner advised that it was stolen at approximately 2:36AM on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. The truck is white in color and bears Virginia registration 713172. If anyone has any information about the location of the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, please call the Abingdon Police Department at 276-628-3111 or Washington County, VA Dispatch at 276-676-6277.
