For Immediate Release
On Saturday, August 1st, 2015, at
approximately 5:00AM, Officer J.N. Carty of the Abingdon Police Department was
patrolling the 300 block of Trigg Street when he observed a male subject
crouched down behind the Trigg Street Church of God. When the officer stopped
to investigate further, the subject tried to flee the scene on a bicycle. The
subject was apprehended after losing control of the bicycle and crashing in the
church parking lot. The man was identified as Mitch D. Warner, 33, of 202 Trigg
Street Apartment 8, Abingdon, Virginia.
Warner, who had one outstanding warrant for
Disorderly Conduct in Public Places, in violation of §
18.2-415 of the Code of Virginia, and one summons for Punishment for Using
Abusive Language to Another, in violation of the § 18.2-416 of the Code of
Virginia, was taken into custody and transported to the Southwest
Virginia Regional Jail. The outstanding warrants were served on Warner and an
additional warrant for Possession of Burglary Tools, in violation of § 18.2-94 of the Code of Virginia, was issued by the
magistrate. Warner is being held in jail without bond.
