For Immediate Release

On Thursday, January 3, 2019, at approximately 4:15pm, the Abingdon Police received a report of a stolen purse from Taco Bell, located at 495 Cummings Street in Abingdon. The victim was traveling through Virginia and stopped for dinner at the restaurant.  When she got back on the road, she realized that she left her purse hanging on the back of a chair in the restaurant. She immediately contacted Taco Bell and spoke to the manager, who stated the purse was no longer hanging on the chair.  The manager reviewed their security system and obtained video footage of an unidentified male subject taking the purse and exiting the restaurant. The purse was a Michael Kors backpack style purse, which contained cash, checks, and credit cards.

Abingdon Officers viewed the video to obtain a description of the suspect who took the purse. The male suspect is described as 5’10”-6’0” tall, dark hair, slim build, and sideburns. He was wearing a black jacket, grey sweatpants, and black/blue high-top shoes. The female that was with the male is described as about 5’5”, tall, slim build, and long blondish hair. The suspects left in an older model maroon Jeep Cherokee with Virginia tags.
