Press Release- Bradley Scott Williams Arrested

Abingdon Police Department

                                               
For Immediate Release

On Tuesday, September 19th, 2017, at approximately 1:46 PM, Officer Y.D. Wilmoth was notified by an off-duty Washington County Sheriff's Office Deputy that there was an outstanding court capias on Bradley Scott Williams, 33, of 19122 Moulin Street, Abingdon, VA, and he was currently at the car wash located at 212 Cook Street, Abingdon. The off-duty deputy said that Williams was seen washing a black Mercedes SUV with Tennessee registration.

Upon arrival, Officer Wilmoth located the vehicle and approached the male. The officer identified him as Williams.  Before taking him in to custody, Williams asked if he could give his money to his girlfriend who was seated in the car. Upon Williams opening the door, Officer Wilmoth detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a zip lock bag containing a crystal substance, a plastic bag containing a green plant material, various sized empty plastic baggies, a bag containing dried mushrooms, a blue bong, several smoking pipes, vials, and numerous needles.  Officers also found $4,472.00 in cash.

Williams was transported to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail, after being arrested on the court capias.

Officer Wilmoth obtained additional charges of Possession of a Schedule I or II Drug with intent to Distribute, in violation of  § 18.2-248 of the Code of Virginia; and Possession of Marijuana, in violation of  § 18.2-250.1 of the Code of Virginia.

Williams was held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.

The Abingdon Police Department wishes to express their sincerest appreciation to members of the Washington County, VA Sheriff's Office and the United States Drug Enforcement Agency for their participation, and assistance, in this arrest.

Patriot Day

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1994 Commander Dickie Kiser will be one of the speakers at the 9-11 Commemorative Tribute on Saturday, September 9th, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Glade Spring Town Square, Glade Spring, VA.  Patriot Day, observed as the National Day of Service and Remembrance, occurs on September 11th of each year in memory of the people killed in the 2001 September 11th attacks.
