Release
On Saturday, April 11th, 2015 at
approximately 11:30PM, an officer with the Abingdon Police Department observed
a 2002 Jeep Liberty traveling on Lowry Drive with expired tag registration and
a rear brake light out. The officer
initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver was identified as Devin
Michael Price, 26, of 504 Lowry Drive Apartment 8, Abingdon, VA. During the traffic stop, the driver gave
consent for the officer to search the vehicle. The search yielded several small
baggies of white crystal substance consistent with methamphetamine, drug
paraphernalia and components used in recent manufacturing of methamphetamine. The
United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) task force was called to
assist with processing and clean up of the lab.
Price was placed under arrest for charges of
Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors (Sulfuric Acid and Pseudoephedrine),
in violation of § 18.2-248 of the Code of Virginia;
Manufacture Methamphetamine, in violation of § 18.2-248.03
of the Code of Virginia; Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine, in
violation of § 18.2-256 of the Code of
Virginia; and Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, in
violation of § 8.2-18.2-248 of the Code of Virginia. Price is being held without bond at the
Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.
A passenger in the vehicle, Christopher Michael
Blankenship, 19, of 21670 Lakeshore Drive, Abingdon, VA, was also arrested on
charges of Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors (Sulfuric Acid and
Pseudoephedrine), in violation of § 18.2-248 of the
Code of Virginia; Manufacture
Methamphetamine, in violation of § 18.2-248.03
of the Code of Virginia; Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine, in
violation of § 18.2-256 of the Code of
Virginia; and Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, in
violation of § 8.2-18.2-248 of the Code of Virginia. Blankenship is being held without bond at the
Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.
