Release
On Saturday, June 17th, 2017, at
approximately 1:54PM, Officer Y. D. Wilmoth was dispatched to Highlands Ski
& Outdoor Center (909 East Main Street) in reference to shoplifting
incident that had already occurred. Upon arrival, Officer Wilmoth spoke with
employees who discovered that a group of four people entered the store and
shoplifted nearly $500.00 in merchandise. The employees observed two males and
two females, which was supported by the store's video surveillance system. The
suspects are described as follows:
1. White
male, thin build, possibly in his 20’s, wearing a baseball cap, an orange
shirt, and blue jeans.
2. White
female, thin build, possibly in her 20’s, wearing a blue t-shirt, white shorts,
and her brown hair was in a ponytail.
3. White
male, tall and heavier build, possibly in his 20’s-30’s, wearing a white and
blue checkered shirt, blue jeans, and a blue Under Armour baseball cap.
4. White
female, medium build, possibly in her 20’s-30’s, wearing a black striped tank
top and black Capri's, and brown hair in a braid.
One of the male subjects was observed putting the
merchandise in his pants pockets and then the group converged at the front of
the store. The employees observed the group leaving the parking lot in a gold
older model Ford Taurus with illegible license plates.
Highlands Ski & Outdoor Center staff conducted
inventory and found that ten items were missing, consisting of ENO (Eagles Nest
Outfitters) hammocks and a Kavu watchband totaling $489.55.
