Wanted Subject 11-10-15

Abingdon Police Department

On Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at approximately 2:27pm, Abingdon Police were dispatched to the 800 block of West Main Street for a two vehicle crash. Upon investigating the collision, officers learned that one of the drivers involved was wanted in Lee County, Virginia for failure to appear. Officers attempted to take Joseph Matthew Hess, 39, of 331 South Park Street, Marion, Virginia, into custody based upon the outstanding warrant. However, Hess resisted the officers’ efforts to subdue him and was able to flee the scene in a rented 2015 Chevrolet Camaro convertible. The vehicle is described as being white in color with tan top (similar to the one pictured).  Hess fled the scene westbound on West Main Street. He is wanted for failure to appear in Lee County, Virginia, and additional charges are pending in Abingdon.
